Welcome to Monday. Time for SuperPhillip's Favorite VGMs! This week we feature Knuckles Chaotix, Mega Man Legends, and Henry Hatsworth in the Puzzling Adventure for starters. The VGMs are where I share my favorite video game tunes of all time. Let's get with it!
v356. Knuckles Chaotix - Door into Summer
I remember renting a 32X when I went to my dad's house, and either myself, my brother, or a combination of the two played through Knuckles Chaotix. This was one of the two themes that have been with me since-- fourteen years later. The other of which plays during the first battle with Metal Sonic. Here it is, Door into Summer from Knuckles Chaotix for Sega's (other) doomed Genesis add-on.
v357. Paper Mario - Wish of the Princess
This is the theme when Princess Peach summons the seven stars around her near the end of Paper Mario. It's a warm, fuzzy song, and it's one of only a handful that I really like on the Paper Mario soundtrack. It gets worse when we go to Thousand-Year Door and Super Paper Mario, too!
v358. Mega Man Legends - Apple Market
The quaint and cozy theme while carousing the hallway known as Apple Market. A short song, but it's very much hum-worthy. Ah, the memories comes flooding back like juice in an energy tank! Who could forget kicking a soda can behind a counter time and time again just to get some zenny? Not I. Sadly, I never got to play the sequel.
v359. Mega Man Maverick Hunter X - Storm Eagle(ed) Stage
Whether you prefer the English name or the Japanese names, Mega Man Maverick Hunter X is a fantastic remake of the original Mega Man X, one of my favorite video games period. There were liberties taken with the level design here and there, but overall the game was extremely faithful to the original. This theme is a remixed version of Storm Eagle's stage. I didn't really think the techno the soundtrack used was best for the series. I'm partial to the rock the series is known for, however, it's used well for this airport stage.
v360. Henry Hatsworth in the Puzzling Adventure - Heavy Metal
This is the final boss theme of Henry Hatsworth in the Puzzling Adventure, a sleeper hit for the Nintendo DS. No worries. No spoilers here! This song comes off as a combination of a track you'd hear in Mega Man X or Donkey Kong Country. Regardless, it's an exceedingly impressive piece of music sounding like something you'd hear from the fine folks at Rare. Yep, it's THAT good.
Have a safe, fun week, everyone!
