SuperPhillip's Favorite VGMs - Kartin' Makes Me Feel Good Edition

Last week we took a listen to the various sounds from the F-Zero franchise. This week we go from one racing series to another with Mario Kart. We start out with how it all began with Super Mario Kart and conclude with the most recent Mario Kart, Mario Kart Wii. Let's burn rubber!

v406. Super Mario Kart - Circuit

We've heard the circuit themes of Mario Kart 64 and Double Dash, but now we're going to the original with Circuit from Super Mario Kart. We're still waiting for this one to hit the Wii's Virtual Console!

v407. Mario Kart 64 - Snow

Snow is the theme for Frappe Snowland and Sherbet Land in Mario Kart 64. Back when Mario Kart 64 was released, the game was the king of multiplayer until a little known game called Goldeneye 007 came out.

v408. Mario Kart: Super Circuit - Cheese Land

Time to say cheese. Or not. Cheese Land was an interesting course from Mario Kart: Super Circuit. It's entirely made of cheese and bandanna-over-the-eyes mice/rats. Listen to that old school music.

v409. Mario Kart: Double Dash!! - Mushroom Bridge

Mario Kart: Double Dash!! might just be my second favorite Mario Kart after DS. My brother and I played this game probably for over 100 hours on this game over several years. The courses were vibrant and well-designed, and the music was upbeat and well done. This theme plays during Mushroom Bridge and Mushroom City-- both courses where dodging traffic was only half the fun.

v410. Mario Kart Wii - Toad's Factory

Here's a chance for you to listen to this jazzy theme without all the cries for mercy from those dastardly blue shells. This is the final race of the Mushroom Cup, the ultra-cool Toad's Factory from Mario Kart Wii which has a great soundtrack all-around. It's miles better than the DS offering by the same composers.

That does it for another edition of SuperPhillip's Favorite VGMs. Next week we're devoting the VGMs to a recent game that just came out and sold gangbusters. Do you know what it is?
