The SuperPhillip Central Best of 2010 Awards - Aftermath

I hope you didn't get drunk over New Year's Eve/Day. Happy 2011, everyone! Now onto more important matters... There were so many games released last year, that I couldn't have possibly played them all! I'm not a robot, man! Regardless, the following games are titles that I did not play, and therefore were exempt from getting any nominations. I hope you will accept my apology in not playing these fine games.

Red Dead Redemption (PS3, 360)

Now this game could've been a contenda'-- A contender for Game of the Year 2010 and Multiplatform Game of the Year, that is! It's not really fair to simply call it GTA on horses, but you would be correct in assuming it's an open world sandbox game. How would I know though? I didn't play it! With enough gun-slinging, horse-riding, desert-roaming action to make Clint Eastwood or John Wayne sweat, this game is one I'm sore on missing out on.

Bioshock 2 (PS3, 360)

I really enjoyed the original Bioshock from its incredible atmosphere in Rapture, to its cinematic style, and to its sensational story with a plot twist StupidPhillip did not see coming. I did not have an interest in playing the sequel since I heard some bad things about the single-player campaign. And you can bet I had no interest doing the online multiplayer. That's for n00bs. I am no n00b. I am a lot of things, but I am no n00b.

Any Xbox 360 Exclusive (360)

My Xbox 360 got the Red Ring of Death about three months after the warranty expired. I swear, they planned this, those greedy bastards. Our family did not care enough about Microsoft's offerings to pick up a second or third one since our first had supposedly been "fixed". When I see people buying their sixth or seventh 360, I call them idiots because they're just falling right into Microsoft's desperate little hands. Make the worst-made hardware ever, have people buy multiple units, ....Profit! So this means we're talking about Halo: Reach, Fable III, as well as Mass Effect 2, GameTrailers' Game of 2010!

Disney Epic Mickey (Wii)

I love Mickey Mouse, but in a non-sexual way. I'm not into animals. Well, not anymore. No, I'm only kidding. Really! Regardless, I heard/read bad things about the camera in this game, so that greatly turned me off. This isn't the Nintendo 64 days where bad cameras were cute. "Oh, look how rudimentary this game is! How cute!" Plus I spent all my holiday money already on a gift for the family. That's right, gift was not pluralized. I was a cheap bastard!

Golden Sun: Dark Dawn (DS)

I was going to purchase this game for my brother's birthday, but he was, like, "No, no. I'll kill you if you buy something you would enjoy, too." Bah-humbug, humpty dumpty. So I missed out on catching those elusive Djinns, casting Psynergy, and summoning monstrous creatures upon my enemies. I miss playing the GBA Golden Suns, so this would be like a return to form. Nonetheless, I missed out on this DS Game of the Year contender.

God of War: Ghost of Sparta (PSP)

GameTrailers among other sites listed this game as the best PSP game of 2010. I missed out on it because I had a choice between this and Donkey Kong Country Returns. I, of course, chose the chunky monkey with no regrets. Nonetheless, I've read brilliant things about this title, and I do envy those who got their hands on it this past holiday season. Kratos may be an assh*le, but he still loves to dish it out in the most macabre of ways!

Valkyria Chronicles 2 (PSP)

Now let's be real here. Any PSP game could have been mentioned in North America as the Most Overlooked. PSP software isn't exactly selling out at your local GameStop, sadly. However, the original Valkyria Chronicles for the PlayStation 3 was an overlooked game all to itself, so it makes sense that the sequel, on a lesser-purchased system did not do so hot either. For all I know, this game could have been the PSP Game of the Year!

Ivy the Kiwi?!?!?!!?!!?!?!!!!!!!1111 (Wii, DS)

It's actually called Ivy the Kiwi? with a question mark at the end for some reason. Like, when you're at the store, and you see the game: "Ivy the Kiwi? You sure you want to buy this game?" That's my opinion on this underrated gem. I call it a gem even though I've never played it. For all we know it could have been this year's Most Overlooked game. The creator of Sonic developed this game, and like his previous efforts, this, too, was underwhelming in sales.

===

I'm still probably forgetting some of your favorite games from 2010. That was last year! Craziness! Let me know which ones I forgot to mention in the comments section. Until next time, have a happy and safe 2011, everyone!
